Data Method
How Tattoo Machine Index Uses Data Labels
Tattoo Machine Index is a data profile system. Unless a page is explicitly labeled Hands-on Tested, profile labels are based on structured public sources rather than our own bench testing.
Data Match
Data Match is a source-backed comparison label for listed machine specs. It helps users sort machines by practical spec context before checking the full source log, reported issue signals, seller records, and data notes. It is not a hands-on performance score unless the profile is explicitly marked Hands-on Tested.
Data match inputs
Stroke reach, motor presence, voltage range, and use-case signals for lining, shading, and color packing.
Control & Ergonomics 20%
Weight, fatigue risk, material or balance proxies, and comfort-related complaint themes.
Power Stability 15%
Motor data, voltage range, wireless runtime, charging context, and power-related complaint themes.
Versatility 15%
Adjustable stroke, tagged use cases, cartridge compatibility, and setup flexibility.
Build & Maintenance 10%
Material, motor/build proxies, maintainability signals, and build-related complaint themes.
Price context
Listed spec context relative to public price tier.
Reported Issue Signals
Reported Issue Signals summarize recurring negative themes from public sources. They are source-linked research notes, not verified defect rates, legal claims, warranty decisions, or complete market samples.
Source Coverage
Source Coverage reflects how complete and verifiable a product profile is. Higher coverage means the page has more source records and fewer conflicts; lower coverage means some specs, prices, or claims still need stronger evidence.
Reference Sources
Official sources
Brand product pages, manuals, published spec sheets, and warranty pages.
Seller listings
Official stores, distributors, resellers, and marketplaces used for price and availability checks.
Reported issue signals
Publicly discoverable negative themes from Reddit, YouTube comments, Trustpilot, or authorized review APIs.
Creator video evidence
Creator videos are third-party evidence and practical context, not copied review content.
Corrections
If you see an incorrect spec, outdated seller listing, missing source, or data conflict, submit the source URL so the profile can be verified and updated.
